The festive season is set to arrive in Matlock this Saturday 23rd November 2024 at Hall Leys Park when the traditional Street Parade returns, and the towns Christmas Lights are switched on. The entertainment starts from 1:00pm, and admission is free!

Matlock Town Council and The Dove join forces to host this year’s event, with Matlock’s Mayor Councillor Jason Knighton claiming it to be ‘the biggest and best yet.’

Master of Ceremonies will be John Haynes from the DOVE kicking off the event with live entertainment from 1:00pm with Sticky Bones Jones, Gervase McCarron, the Dustbowl Orphans, and special guests Reel Productions all performing on the Bandstand.

Santa is resting his reindeer ready for Christmas Eve so will be heading up the Parade from 5:00pm, and riding into town with the League of Zeal Motorcycle Club, joining them will be the Young Farmers with their tractors, Daisy Daisy Tandom Bicycle, The Elderly Residents of Valley Lodge, The Red Barrows, Chesterfield Football Clubs Mascot as well as Glady the Gladiator from Matlock Town Football Club, and a marching band too.

There will also be Santa’s Grotto, numerous stalls and refreshments provided by the Matlock Rotary Club, and Lumsdale Cheescakes too.

One change is the Christmas tree; to save money the Council has decided to use the existing tree near the bandstand, which is bigger fuller and hopefully brighter.

The parade starts at 5:00pm and lights will be officially switch on at 5:30pm.
