Burton Statutes Fair Returns This Weekend

The Statutes Fair starts this weekend in Burton’s Market Place and the surrounding areas of High Street, Lichfield Street, New Street, Manor Croft and Manor Drive and runs from Sunday 29th September until Tuesday 1st October 2024

The Fair will be open to the public on:

Sunday 29th of September, 12:30pm – 11:00pm

Monday 30th of September, 12:00pm – 11:00pm

Tuesday 1st of October, 12:00pm – 11:00pm

Operated by Pat Collins Fun Fairs, the company have been associated with the town for over 100 years. The Statues Fair is the modern-day successor to the traditional labour hiring fair that was held in the town each year on the first Monday and Tuesday after Michaelmas.

Cllr Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said: “It’s great to see the Statutes Fair return for another year, lighting up the streets of Burton and providing entertainment for both residents and visitors to the Borough. I hope all those that attend have a wonderful time!”

Fairground staff will arrive on site on the evening of Saturday 28thth September to begin building the fair, and there will be several road and car park closures (see list below) from 4:00pm on Saturday 28th September until 6:00am on Wednesday 2nd October, allowing the funfair to close, clear, the streets to be swept and normal business to continue.

Road closures:

  • Market Place – Closed to all traffic
  • High Street - Closed to through traffic from its junction with Station Street to Lichfield Street.
  • New Street - Closed to through traffic from its junction with High Street to its junction with Union Street
  • Lichfield Street - Closed to traffic from its junction with High Street to its junction with Bond Street
  • Abbey Street - Closed to traffic from its junction with Lichfield Street to its junction with Fleet Street
