The Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide Football Committee are pleased to announce the turners up for 2026.
On Tuesday 17th February 2026 Sir Andrew Walker-Okeover Bt DL will turn up the ball. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather (1931) and father (1978) Sir Andrew has supported Shrovetide and many other good causes in the area over many years. On being informed of this honour Sir Andrew said "It has come as a massive shock and a huge honour to become part of Shrovetide history. I have a lifelong love of the game as it is a keystone of the identity and heritage of Ashbourne and I can't believe I'm going to be part of it".
On Wednesday 18th February 2026 Pete Mellor will turn up the ball. Pete's roots are deeply embedded in Ashbourne and Shrovetide which he has played for many years in the hug, only recently hanging up his tatty green jumper! Pete said "It's a fantastic honour that has been bestowed on me, one that you cannot replicate. I cannot express how much I appreciate this gesture".
